New York: Finally Google revealed its name for the latest version of Android 8.0, the name for Android O was announced to coincide with a total solar eclipse at 14th Street Park, Manhattan, New York, USA. Google held a special event to announce the latest version name for Android 8.0. The official name for the latest android version 8.0 is Oreo.
Director of Product Management Android Sagar Kamdar had revealed the reason why finally the name of Oreo selected for Android 8.0. He said the decision was taken after Google saw many engineers who over time Oreo often snacking.
Along with the announcement of this name, Google also informed that Android Oreo is available through Android Open Source Project. Updates via OTA will be immediately sent to Pixel and Nexus devices. Android Oreo is currently in operator testing.
